I Solemnly Swear I Will Not Be Perfect This Year

My motto this year is "I'm not looking for perfection...just improvement." How's that for underachievement?

Seriously though...what exactly is perfection? Does God expect perfection from His children? Do you expect perfection from your children?

Consider it a poll of sorts. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this, so feel free to make lovely, nice and long comments.

G'ahead...I'll wait.

I love it. I might adopt that mantra as well. :)

Just dropped by today....
Hmmmm...I don't think God expects perfection, but I think he wants us to strive towards it knowing we will fail yet seek His face and humbly ask for forgiveness.
and
I probably expect way too much from my children!!! But I'm trying!

I just posted with this same attitude. Right there with you!

Oh, I so hope God doesn't expect perfection. He's got my history in file and I just know he's sure that I'll completely and utterly fail that one.

Thank goodness that despite my failure, his son's blood makes me perfectly acceptable.

I'll go with that motto too. It fits into so many areas other than just my life: my marriage, my children, my church, my work...

Hey, I wanted to respond to your comment on my blog but couldn't find an e-mail. I've actually been reading you for months. My daughter misses the LOTR clip you had for a while.

And the Slightly More then Mediocre? Go for it!

Hi there! I found you through the "random" link on CWO and read through your posts. You sound like a fun Christian (there are a few of them around!) I enjoyed several of your posts but thought I would comment on this one.

Like you I struggle with perfectionism, the past few years I've made my motto, "Excellence, not perfection."
