Lesson in Humility # 142,639

I went to visit my cousin this past weekend. Somehow the conversation turned to blogging and my cousin said, "I don't blog. I think it's very presumptuous of a person to believe that other people might care to read about what they think on any given subject."

What is blogging, but another form of communication. You are not forcing any one to read or to leave a comment. Who asked her for her opinion anyway, wasn't she being a bit presumptuous? Also you were not given a choice but to listen to what she thought. My opinion take it or leave it...don't stop blogging. Talk to you later Sunshine!

That's strange. I used to think the same thing until 2 years ago when I started actually reading them and connecting with other women and men who shared their life experiences. It is amazing how open and honest bloggers can be and how much I learn from them. Now I have my own blog and I am loving it.

I like what anonymous said about HER being presumptuous. L I feel for you though, because I probably would have felt like you did in the moment too, but why? Just because SHE doesn't want to glean from others doesn't mean we don't want to! Keep writing.

The cousin is dead wrong. It is not presumptuous for you to think that, especially as you know you have commenters on an array of subject.

Perhaps the cousin really means that he/she fears that no one would listen to what he/she had to say on any given subject.

Please don't let the cousin's words bruise you too much. Let it heal and keep on writing and expressing your thoughts.

The joy of blogging is that it's optional to the reader. Presumption would be to email someone your blog every day.
